The razor
Alongside the traditional kamisori, Japan made Western-style straight razors for decades, and the President was made in Tokyo to a high standard: the box promises Best Silver Swedish Steel, and the tang reads Super Deluxe Razor. This Model 70 was made in the mid-20th century and never used. It sat in its original box until it reached me.
At 13/16″ it’s a generous, confident size, with a half hollow grind and a square point. As new old stock, the edge it has now is the first it has ever had: honed on a single layer of Kapton tape to protect the spine, and finished on a Japanese natural stone.

Restoration and condition
No restoration needed. It’s new old stock, in excellent condition, with its original box. The blade is centred and firm in the scales.
Unused. The box shows its age, as in the photos.
Honing
Honed with one layer of Kapton tape on the spine and finished on a Japanese natural stone, then stropped and sanitised, ready to shave.
